Dietary Department

Pemiscot Memorial Health System’s Dietary Department is located on the first floor next to the Rehabilitation Department. Dietary is staffed from 6:00 AM to 6:00 PM.

The primary purpose of our Dietary Department is to provide a well-balanced, nutritionally adequate diet for each patient, following the orders of the physicians. Menus are planned in accordance an approved diet manual. 

It is the aim of the department to serve a blend of home-cooked foods and ready-prepared items that are characteristic of the region. Dietary also serves meals to visitors and employees through the cafeteria at breakfast and noon meals.

Staffing includes registered dietitians, a food service director, supervisors, and a team of dietary staff. 

Our cafeteria is open from 11:00 AM to 12:30 PM.

 

The department dietitian provides inpatient and outpatient nutrition education by providing diet counseling when applicable. 

Nutritional Education

The registered dietitians are offering outpatient Medical Nutrition Therapy (MNT) for our patients.  MNT has been shown to improve patients’ quality of life along with helping them in meeting their health care goals in such areas as:

  

  • Weight loss/Obesity                                                

  • Heart Disease

  • Diabetes

  • Renal Disease

  • Cancer

  • Food allergies

  • GI Disorders

  • Malnutrition
