     BUT CHALLENGES CAN BE OVERCOME. . .

At sometime in our lives many of us may face physical, cognitive, or mental health challenges that will prevent us from being as independent and active as we’d like. These challenges can begin at birth, develop gradually later in life, or arise suddenly at any age.

The PMHS Rehabilitation department makes it possible for people facing such challenges to participate more fully in daily living by providing a complete range of services including:

  • PHYSICAL THERAPY
  • OCCUPATIONAL THERAPY
  • SPEECH THERAPY

Licensed physical and occupational therapists and speech/language pathologists work closely with physicians to provide individual treatment programs designed to restore and improve one’s quality of life.

Physical, occupational, and speech therapy help children and adults acquire or resume daily living skills needed to engage in meaningful activities ranging from walking, talking, self-care such as dressing and feeding oneself, to work, school, leisure, and community pursuits.

Therapy is available for inpatients and outpatients of all ages with a variety of diagnoses including orthopedic, neurological, developmental, and worker’s compensation cases.

Typical services are provided for care of:

  • acute trauma
  • arthritis
  • hip and knee pain and/or replacement
  • work and sports injuries
  • wound care
  • stroke
  • Parkinson’s Disease
  • Alzheimer’s disease
  • cerebral palsy
  • speech disorders
  • communication
  • swallowing problems (dysphagia)

  • sensory integration
  • pervasive developmental
  • developmental delay

Physical Therapy includes evaluation and treatment of physical disabilities in order to restore and maintain pain free movement and function.

Occupational Therapy is provided for people of all ages who, because of physical or developmental problems require specialized assistance to lead independent, productive, and satisfying lives.

Speech Language Pathology is the evaluation and treatment of various forms of communication and swallowing disorders.
