     RADIOLOGY

The Radiology Department has been a part of Pemiscot Memorial Hospital since 1951. Many positive changes have occurred over the years.

The services provided by the personnel of the department are:

  • Mammography
  • DEXA (bone density exam)
  • Nuclear Medicine CT
  • MRI

Emergency examinations are provided 24 /7 and are performed through the emergency room.

The recent addition of computed radiography or digital radiography has enhanced the overall capabilities of the department. Also a recently installed RIS/PACS computer system gives the department the ability to perform all exams electronically and stores the image in a computer allowing the image to be viewed by the medical staff anywhere a computer is accessible.

All the radiology personnel employed by PMHS are certified and registered ARRT technologists. Completion of a formal AMA approved institution is required prior to completion of a national registry to receive a license to perform and provide services. The ARRT entity requires all ARRT personnel to obtain 24 continuing education credits to maintain active licensure.

The radiology department provides more than 25,000 procedures annually for the local community.

All radiology procedures are read by a radiologist who provides the final diagnostic information to the medical staff.
